Starting a two-game road trip, the Boston University women’s soccer team is set to face Army West Point Wednesday night at Malek Stadium in New York. The Terriers hope to be coming home with a win, according to their leading goal scorer, Anna Heilferty, to secure a position in the Patriot League playoffs.
"We are in a pretty good spot heading into Army, but playing well in these two away games is really important at the end of regular season," said Heilferty.
The Terriers hold a 4-1-1 Patriot League record, coming off a 3-0 win over Loyola, Maryland, Saturday. BU is currently sitting in fourth place in the league. Army trails behind them in eighth, only winning one Patriot League game this season.

Heilferty, a Virginia native, leads BU's attack, tallying 12 points this season, 10 of them earned in the last eight games.
Heilferty is one of three freshmen playing key roles for Boston University this season. Junior Mckenna Doyle, who notched two goals in their 3-0 victory, explained that a large part of the team’s success this season is due to the freshman class,
*All four of the freshman have stepped up in their roles this year and have done a really great job," said Doyle."
Goalkeeper Amanda Fay leads the Patriot League in goals allowed, goals against average, and is tied for second in shutouts. The freshman standout is one of six first-year goalkeepers in the NCAA to have six clean sheets this season. Defender Mckenna Kennedy stepped up for the Terriers as of recent, after captain Alivya Wimmer suffered an ankle injury a week prior.
Heilferty came away from last week receiving Rookie of the Week honors from the Patriot League, after scoring the first goal in Saturday’s Kick It For Cancer match against the Greyhounds. Senior captain Rachel Bloznalis earned her second Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season, only allowing three shots in the game, leading to their eighth shutout of the season.

Doyle explains that with a younger team, the focus has to be learning from each game and maintaining their style as they close out Patriot League play.
"Consistency is really important going into next week. I think focusing on our style and maintaining the way we play even though we are on the road," said Doyle. "I think we need to pay attention to the little things and when we have opportunities, we have to put them away. We aren't going to get as many against our later opponents as we did earlier in the season."
Army's goalkeeper Sydney Cassalia could pose difficulties for the Terrier's attack, holding a .754 save percentage. But, Heilferty believes their team's mobility will be able to get behind the Black Knight defense.
"I think our player movement up top, the three of us, move really well together, creating spaces for the other forward to take it, making seems into the box for scoring chances," Heilferty said.
Boston University is looking to better their away game record, only winning one against Lafayette three weeks ago. The second game of the week for the Terriers will be hard fought, playing against last years champions, Bucknell. The game is set to be played at 2 p.m. in Lewisburg, PA. Their 2016 season ended after a loss to the Bison in the final game of PL Tournament in double overtime.
They will finish off their Patriot League play against Colgate next week, who are currently in second place and hold a 5-0-1 record.
Kickoff for tomorrow night is at 7 p.m. Follow the action at goterriers.com!
